How big a solar system do I need for my home?
For most Scottish 3-bed homes we size 3–5 kWp, which typically generates around 2,600–4,300 kWh per year. We size against your actual annual electricity usage and roof space — not a one-size-fits-all number. Bigger isn't always better: an oversized array exports cheap and self-consumes less.
Is it worth adding a battery to my solar?
Usually yes — a battery lifts self-consumption from around 30% (solar-only) to 70–85%, and lets you arbitrage cheap overnight tariffs like Octopus Cosy or Intelligent Go. Typical extra saving is £350–£500/yr on top of the solar itself. We'll model your usage before recommending a size.
How long does a home install take?
A straightforward solar-only install is 1–2 days on-site. Adding a battery and EV charger typically pushes it to 2–3 days. We tidy up daily and leave your consumer unit labelled and tested.
Do you handle the Home Energy Scotland loan paperwork?
Yes. Once you accept your quote we provide the documentation HES requires, coordinate the technical evidence, and support your application. The loan is between you and HES — but we make it painless.
What warranty do I get?
25 years product & performance on panels, 10–12 years on inverters and batteries (manufacturer-dependent), and our own 12-year workmanship warranty on the install itself. All backed by our in-house service team — no third-party call centre.

Will my site need a DNO upgrade?
For solar under 3.68 kW single-phase or ~11 kW three-phase, we notify only (G98). Above that we submit a G99 application before install. For rapid EV charging or larger PV, we run an early DNO capacity check — around 85% of commercial sites we assess need no upgrade once load management is applied.
CapEx, lease or PPA — how do we choose?
CapEx gives the best long-term IRR (typically 15–25%) if you can commit the balance sheet. Operating lease keeps it off-balance-sheet with a monthly payment usually below your energy saving. A PPA means zero CapEx — we fund and own the system and you buy the power at a fixed sub-grid rate. We model all three against your numbers.
Can you install without shutting down our operations?
Yes — this is the norm for us. Rooftop PV is installed live in most cases. Battery and DNO cutovers are scheduled out-of-hours or across a planned window. Full RAMS, CSCS-carded engineers, and one point of contact for your facilities team.
What ROI should we realistically expect?
For commercial solar in Scotland, typical payback is 4–7 years and IRR of 15–25% depending on daytime consumption and tariff. Battery-only projects that peak-shave DUoS red-band typically pay back in 5–8 years. We share the underlying assumptions so your finance team can stress-test them.
Do you offer ongoing O&M and monitoring?
Yes. All commercial systems come with remote monitoring included for the first year, plus optional annual O&M packages covering inverter servicing, string testing, cleaning where required, and priority response SLAs. You get quarterly performance reports so the asset stays accountable.
