Domestic solar PV panels on a Scottish home
Domestic · Solar PV

Solar PV for your home — sized properly, installed properly.

MCS-certified solar systems for Scottish homes, sized to your real-world usage rather than what fits on your roof. Lower bills, lower carbon and a path to energy independence.

  • MCS-certified design and install — required for SEG payments and most warranties.
  • Tier-1 panels (JA Solar, Jinko, Longi) with 25-year performance warranty.
  • Hybrid inverters as standard — battery-ready from day one.
  • Detailed shade modelling so you know what to actually expect generation-wise.

Why clients choose us for this

Honest sizing — not over-sold

We size for the system you'll actually use, not the biggest one we can squeeze on the roof. Self-consumption matters more than raw kWp for your payback.

Shade-modelled design

PV*SOL modelling on every quote — so chimneys, gables and the neighbour's tree are factored in. No surprises in winter generation reports.

Battery-ready inverters

Every install uses a hybrid inverter as standard. Add a battery now or in three years — same hardware, no replacement charge.

SEG sign-up included

We handle the MCS certification and Smart Export Guarantee application so you get paid for what you export from day one.

Roof- and scaffold-trained installers

Our installers — not subcontractors — are scaffold-trained, MCS-qualified electricians. Clean install, neat cable runs, properly weatherproofed.

Real warranty support

20-year workmanship warranty backed by SPG Group — we're not a single-van outfit that vanishes in year three. Local engineers, local response.

Frequently asked

How much will I save?+

A typical 4kWp install on a Scottish home generates ~3,400 kWh/yr and saves £450–650/yr depending on tariff and self-consumption. Add a battery and that jumps to £700–950.

Does solar work in Scotland?+

Yes. Edinburgh gets ~85% of London's irradiance, and panels are more efficient at cooler temperatures. The vast majority of MCS-certified UK installs are now in Scotland and the north.

Do I need planning permission?+

For most homes, no — solar PV is permitted development. We confirm this on the home survey. Conservation areas and listed buildings need consent, which we'll guide you through.

Should I get a battery at the same time?+

Often yes — but not always. We model both options on every quote so you can see the payback difference. Battery-ready inverters mean you can also add one later without replacement cost.

What about the Home Energy Scotland loan?+

Eligible for an interest-free loan up to £6,000 (solar) and £6,000 (battery), with a partial grant component. We help you through the application as part of the quote process.
